Factor V plasma half-life of about 15-36 hours. Factor V activation occurs by both the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways. Factor V deficiency should be considered when a patient with bleeding history has both extended PT and APTT. Low Factor V activity may lead to hematoma formation, post-surgical and post-partum hemorrhage, menorrhagia and hematuria. |
